I figured that since I was home sick I had no excuse and had to update the blog. Things have been going really well at work. The kids are hilarious and I love teaching 1st grade. I have an incredible class. They love to use good manners and to use kind words. I really drill this with them and it has worked. The only thing I obviously am not happy about is the germs. The kids are always sick and of course I am too. I have had a cold since I started three and a half weeks ago. It finally went away at the beginning of the week but by Wednesday I had a sore throat again and it went into the same cold again. I never miss a day of work but today I am home sick. I actually miss the kids today which is good. Here are a few of the funny things the kids have said:
1. Kid: "Mrs Rudzek, the bathroom smells really, really bad."
Me: "What does it smell like?"
Kid: "um, hmmm (he sniffs the air) wait, I know...it smells like McDonald's pickles"
2. Me: "What is your favorite food"
Kid: "basagna"
Me: "oh, lasagna"
Kid: "no, basagna"
Me: "okay"
There have been a lot more but I never remember to write them down. I will try and get better at that.
On another note, after much thought, prayer and patience we finally found a car for me. We ended up going with a used 2007 acura tsx. We basically stole the car from the dealership and they threw in a 100,000 mile warranty on everything and free oil changes for life. We couldn't believe the deal we got. Plus the financing was a huge blessing so the payments are very low! I love the car and feel so blessed!
Nothing much more going on but I will try and update more often...I know, I know, I say that all the time but I really will try!

I'm Lovin' It
Hmmm...well that sounds like a familiar slogan but seriously, I am. Sorry no update in a while but the first week was much more demanding that I thought. However, it is a blessing from the good LORD himself. It is fabulous. I love the little munchkins to death and think they are all fabulous. Okay, there are one or two that will be a handful but nothing is impossible with Him. Yeah! Had Back-To-School Night tonight and it was a success. No question I couldn't answer and my teaching partner and I even prayed before the parents came in. I love that we have that bond and can pray at work!!! I just got home and still have to plan for tomorrow so this as always will be short but hopefully I can update in another day or two and post some pics. Cheers!

Wowzers
I am beyond exhausted! Those little ones are much more exhausting than the big ones. Not much time to write today as I have to get ready for work and leave in half an hour but I will write more tonight and try to add some pics of the first few days. Can't post any of the kiddos without parent permission but I will add a few of the classroom and myself. A few funny stories which I will post later. Praying for strength and patience today :-)

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Back To Work I Go!!!
Although I have been back at work for almost two weeks the official "first day" hype starts tomorrow. Yes, like the kids I bought my first day of school new outfit, stocked up on school supplies and packed my lunch early. Because I am teaching a new grade I think I am more nervous than the kids this year. I am sure as is always the case I will lie in bed wide awake all night and not get any sleep. This will be fine for tomorrow but by Wednesday I will be so tired I am sure I will sleep through my alarm clock and wake up half an hour before the kids are suppose to be in class... (it has happened before)! :-) Another year, another group of kids, another grade level, another adventure. I am particularly excited about this year as it is my mission to make Jesus the change our school so desperately needs. Each year we have been praying for our staff and principal but nothing seems to change so the only logical answer is more Jesus! I am going to start a bible study on site after work and make sure I do everything I can to glorify God in the workplace so perhaps someone will ask why I am different and I can shout praises to the LORD! Amen! I am hoping to stay more up to date with this whole blogging thing...did a great job the first week and then never wrote again. However, I want to keep a journal of all the funny things kids say and how the day went etc so what better place than on my blog. So get ready for some laughter and perhaps a few tears as I embark upon this great journey they call 1st grade!!!
